My husband (then finace) and I had to make the choice to terminate 4 years ago this May.

I thank you for being a voice for us who were given the right to make a choice.

This country is a better, safer place because of the work you do, and I can't thank you enough for your commitment. Hang in there. I'll be thinking of you.

Thanks for sharing your story, and thank you so much for the work you do! The comment you received only proves that the protesters represent more than simply "anti-abortion" views -- they represent an ANTI-WOMAN movement that wants to control women's sexuality, bodies, minds, behavior, spirits. To call a stranger a "slut" means they acknowledge that you or any other woman is a sexual being. And that is our right and our natural biology as much as it is a man's -- to be sexual. Working to provide and protect health care for women, including reproductive and sexual health care, means that you are working to protect my basic human right to be a fully mature and sexual human being. For that I have no bounds of gratitude.

This is fabulous. I always knew that Planned Parenthood workers were unbelievably courageous. I just want to thank you for the proof. Congratulations on an idea well conceived. And a job well done. Every single day.

Kudos to you & Planned Parenthood for all that you endure and all that you do. I am grateful for it all and having the choice available to me and to my sister and the all the women in my life.

Hang in there! What you're doing is so important and means a lot to many of us who have used Planned Parenthood's services.

It breaks my heart that in a country where the health care system is a travesty, these people feel that they have nothing better to do than persecute women who need affordable reproductive health care.

You are in our thoughts (and our browsers). Keep up the good work.

Funny how slut or bitch is always used against women when the person using just doesn't have anything to say. More proof that this is less about abortion and more about women's rights as a whole.

Thank you to all the brave and dedicated members of PP and the Emily X posters here. I recently went in to our local PP with my mother, who is 64 and without health insurance. PP gave her her first gyn exam in 10 years and sent her off for her first mammogram. PP could potentially save her life. PP isn't just about birth control, abortions, and babies, it is about all women and their access to safe, affordable health care. I wish more people understood what you do. Thanks again!

I would also would like to thank you for the work that you do. Stay encouraged!

I have been looking for a list of which clinics are being picketed and have not been able to find one. I am curious because I'm away from my hometown right now, so I can't go by to see if the protesters are there, but I would like to encourage the workers if the protests are happening there. Is it possible to put up a list of where the protests are happening?
Thanks.

planned parenthood does so very many things to help educate, and preserve the health of women of all ages. they help us stand up and retain our rights for our bodies, and our all around health and wellbeing. they are compasionate, comprehensive, and respectful.
to the protesters who choose to direct their energy toward harrassing and denegrating workers and clients, i suggest you put forth your efforts in more immediate, and neccessary areas...such as(if you really are concerned w/women and children's health)....protesting, and lobbying toward tougher legislation, and sentencing pertaining to sexual offenses, and assaults. while you are shouting humiliating, ignorate, comments at human beings that are actually a helpful part of society, that time could be used better to help protect the safety and health of women and children who are being abused constantly in our country---and whose assailants, sadly to say, more often than not, have ridiculously insufficient consequences to suffer. those are the laws that need more imediate attention, those are the laws that need to be changed. the barbaric treatment which assault victims receive is what needs to be addressed, and made better. what women and children do not need is for you people to further humiliate, and denigrate them with your ugly, and often not fully educated comments.
with as much money, man and womenpower, and time all of these protesors must have backing them they really should direct it in an are that can actually HELP the women of our society. oh, and in speaking of how much TIME they must have, perhaps some of that could be used at home to educate early about womens issues, and TOLERANCE for those in need...not only one's own personal judgement of individuals of whom they do not even know.
i've been a client of planned parenthood since i was a teen, i'm twice that now. i suggest it to my teen, anyone else who asks. they have never done us a disservice, and have always been informative, kind, and helpful. i know how it feels as well to walk through protestors who pretend to understand what is happening, and who wrongfully judge you with very , very little information...usually nothing more than a look at you, and a knowledge of what building you are walking into. i applaud all of you at planned parenthood for continuing your work, and efforts to help us maintain our health and rights to out own choices regarding our bodies and our lives. god bless you all, and keep you safe. take solice in the knowledge that there are many of us out here who appreciate you all for what you do, and know that we support you just like you have supported us for so long. thank you again for being there.

I need a good slogan to put on a placard, and I'll protest the protesters!

The slogan should say something to the effect that mandatory organ transplant should be the law of the land - regardless whether or not that person wants to donate their kidney. After all, A HUMAN BEING WILL DIE without a donor!!!!

Each year, thousands of people die before a kidney donor is found, and that suffering and needless death could be avoided if we made kidney harvesting MANDATORY.

How come the abortion protesters aren't petitioning for mandatory kidney harvesting? Is it because their real purpose is controlling women's sexuality?

I work for Planned Parenthood as well and have experience with protestors. I view it as my duty to make our patients as comfortable as I can whether they are coming to us for family planning, abortion services or prenatal care! We are about women's health, not the bottom line!

Stay strong. The New York Times ran an article yesterday about a health study that proves making abortion illegal does not decrease the number of abortions but only increases the death rate of women. The study also found that countries which offer contraceptives and actual sex education instead of abstinence-only programs have lower numbers of abortions and female mortality. I wish the protesters would realize that if they really want to make some progress in their cause, they should *support* Planned Parenthood.

Thanks so much to all of you for the work you do. I know that most of you know that what you are doing is important and that you shouldn't be discouraged by the ignorance of others, but if you ever forget then read these comments. I and other women like me are so appreciative of the work you do and hope that you remember that just by going into work everyday you are supporting the rights of every woman out there.

They don't want "babies killed".? Until everyone of the protester is working to make this world a place where women & children are safe and valued, a world in which every pregnant woman would want to bring a pregnancy to term, they need to shut up or admit that the agenda is realy about control over women's lives and bodies.

If believing in women's healthcare and reproductive rights makes me a slut, then call me Slutty McSlut.

Keep doing the noble and necessary work that you do.

Emily, you are amazing. Please keep up the very important work you are doing and don't let these people faze you. Without you thousands and thousands of women's lives will be more constricted and they won't be able to reach for the dreams they deserve to have. My heart is happier that you are working so hard.

Thank you so much for going to work every day! I have been going to Planned Parenthood for nearly a decade and have always received exceptional care. Thank you for continuing your bravery in the face of adversity and for representing a woman's right to reproductive care on the whole. I'm so sorry that you are being attacked for the good and important work that you do. Good luck to you and please hang in there!

When I saw the title "Planned Parenthood" on the left side of my MySpace page in Bulletin Space, I was a bit leary to open the message. Thank goodness you are on the 'correct' side!!! Isn't the clinic that had all those recent BIG problems with protesters in Aurora? Is this the one?

Anyway, I am jealous that you work there. Good for you. As previous posters have said, all the protesting is so much more anti-woman than anything else. I am always so surprised to see so many women protesting a woman's right to choose. How can you be anti-choice AND anti-birth control/anti-sex education?!

Cheers, and keep posting!

You guys are amazing for the work that you do! Keep being strong and courageous and don't ever give up the fight for women's health care! Those of us who have come in contact with PP know how much good you do, and I hope you know there are many, many women out there who appreciate all the wondeful services you provide! Good luck!

Thank you so much for the brave work you do. You're making the world a better place. This sponsorship drive is a brilliant way to put the protests to good use. I hope you let them know how much money they are raising for the clinic and how many vital health services they are paying for.

I know it's rough, but just remember: these people are insane. You know how important your work is, and so do I. I've been going to Planned Parenthood for years, and I don't know what I would do without you guys. Thank you so much.

Thank you so much for the work you do.

I go to the Planned Parenthood in Manhattan, where there are a few protesters with pamphlets every time I stop by. What they don't realize is that without that center and its counselors walking me through the steps of Medicaid and providing reduced cost services, I wouldn't be able to afford womens' health care at all. That includes life saving pelvic exams, just plain check ups, and family planning services like free condoms or birth control (services which I'm sure most protesters also require from time to time).

The work you do is so invaluable to the communities where you do it. Thank you so much. Don't let them get you down. I'm behind you 100%.

Don't these people have a hobby other than harass medical workers? It wasn’t too long ago that nurses where considered sluts and whores also.

Get over it you all with the little minds.

Carlee said...

That just proves that they are ignorant the more they try to threaten you with words and actions know that they are just trying for a reaction that will give them satisfaction in their minds. Keep up the good work, I am glad you don't let them get you down, if they really wanted to help thy neighbor as they so believe they wouldn't be hurting women in the first place

Thank you for everything you do. Planned Parenthood does so much for women's health and I appreciate your strength. It's amazing to me how "righteous" people can be so filled with hatred and say such hateful things. Please be confident in the fact that there are so many of us who thank you for your work. We are supposed to take care of each other - and that's what you do.

I am not proud of having used abortion as my method of birth control years ago, having been unable to access birth control.
But, I am grateful that I had that second chance. It was also perhaps best for my unborn child, who would have been deformed and disabled, or may have lived a short life, at the expense of my own. Thank you for giving people that second chance.
